A strategic layout decision aimed at driving a paradigm shift throughout the entire energy lifecycle, from power generation and storage to conversion and distribution.
The module series based on the new silicon carbide MOSFET adopts two industry standard packages, providing engineers with important tools to achieve modernization of energy infrastructure and unlock the full potential of artificial intelligence and electrification.
Two module series will be showcased at booth 7-435 of PCIM exhibition from June 9-11, 2026.

On May 22, 2026, in Durham, North Carolina, USA and Shanghai, China, Wolfspeed, Inc. (NYSE: WOLF), a global leader in silicon carbide technology, launched two new 3.3 kV silicon carbide (SiC) power module series - high-power half bridge with substrate modules packaged according to industry standards, and scalable full bridge without substrate modules - aimed at addressing the urgent power bottleneck issues brought about by artificial intelligence (AI) data centers and the broader energy transition. To address this challenge, it is necessary to develop power generation, conversion, and distribution solutions that are faster, smaller, more efficient, cost-effective, and more resilient than pure silicon (Si) technology. These two new module series provide engineers with important tools for modernizing energy infrastructure throughout the entire energy lifecycle.
Wolfspeed's Vice President of Industrial and Energy Business, Guy Moxey, stated that the launch of the 3.3 kV module series based on a new type of silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFET and featuring two complementary packaging versions is a strategic layout decision. We understand the urgency that our clients face in expanding their power infrastructure, and these two module series can support both mature grid level enterprises and help emerging enterprises adopting modular architectures take quick action. Today, we provide engineers with tools to build the future power grid - through collaborative efforts, we can successfully address the surging demand for electricity and unlock the full potential of artificial intelligence and electrification
Your system - at your discretion
These two 3.3 kV module series enable design engineers to reduce the number of power stages and shift towards a two-level topology for DC bus architectures of 2 kV and above - providing a choice of silicon carbide (SiC) power modules with and without substrates.
High power half bridge with substrate silicon carbide (SiC) power module (LM platform): designed specifically for>800 A applications, optimized for demanding converter topologies in solar, grid level energy storage, and wind power infrastructure.
Scalable full bridge without substrate (partially belonging to Wolfspeed WolfPACK) ® Series products: Silicon carbide (SiC) power modules: designed specifically for modularity, providing the ability to flexibly configure multi-level, series stacked, or parallel converter architectures with consistent and matching performance - optimized for solid-state transformers (SST) and modular renewable energy infrastructure.
Specially designed for continuous 24/7, 2 kV+DC bus operation
Both module series are designed to meet the stringent requirements of uninterrupted operation infrastructure. Wolfspeed WolfPACK ® The module adopts advanced sintered chip mounting and epoxy resin potting materials. Compared with the standard silicon gel potting module, the power cycle performance is significantly improved. Similarly, the substrate module achieves higher system durability and power cycling capability through advanced packaging technology using sintered chip mounting and copper chip top systems. Both module series adopt fourth generation (Gen 4) technology with improved cosmic ray tolerance.
Brian Dow, CEO of Amperesand, a manufacturer of medium voltage solid-state transformers (SST), stated that Amperesand focuses on critical power transmission from medium voltage to artificial intelligence (AI) cabinets, requiring first-class reliability, power density, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The latest advances in silicon carbide (SiC) technology provide maximum reliability for high volatility artificial intelligence (AI) factory loads, while unlocking optimized packaging solutions, achieving previously unattainable cost levels and industry-leading power density and efficiency. Wolfspeed always insists on promoting innovation, scalability, and high quality, making it perfect for demanding solid-state transformer (SST) critical power solutions
Smaller size - lower system cost
Wolfspeed WolfPACK ® By improving switch performance and system architecture, solid-state transformer (SST) systems can reduce the footprint by more than 50% compared to traditional devices. Understand how Amperesand utilizes 3.3 kV Wolfspeed WolfPACK ® Solution for industry-leading space savings and a lifespan of 20 to 30 years in the engineering design of its 6+MW medium voltage solid-state transformer (SST), please visit:

The new high-power strip substrate module has improved switching losses by 42% compared to other silicon carbide (SiC) solutions on the market, and by over 90% compared to IGBT - both measured under the same package, 125 ° C, and 1.8 kV bus conditions.
Both module series have achieved better full temperature range switching performance, reducing the size of magnetic components and EMI filters, ultimately improving system power density and reducing system costs.
