Infineon Technologies Inc. (FSE code: IFX/OTCQX code: IFNNY), a global semiconductor leader in power systems and the Internet of Things, has expanded its XDP subsidiary ™ The digital protection product series has launched XDP711-001. This is a digital hot swappable controller with a wide input voltage range of 48V, featuring programmable safe operating area (SOA) control and designed specifically for high-power AI servers. This controller has excellent input and output voltage monitoring and reporting functions, with an accuracy of ≤ 0.4%. It also has system input current monitoring and reporting functions, with an accuracy of ≤ 0.75% across the entire ADC range, which can improve the accuracy of system fault detection and reporting.
The XDP711-001 hot swappable controller adopts pulse SOA current control technology, which can achieve safer turn-on even in systems that do not use optimal field-effect transistors (FETs), thereby reducing system material (BOM) costs. This XDP ™ The new member of the product series is designed specifically to drive multiple parallel MOSFETs, supporting the key requirement of high-power design for AI servers.
XDP711-001 adopts a three block architecture that combines high-precision telemetry technology for monitoring and fault detection, digital SOA control optimized for power MOSFETs, and a high current integrated driver capable of driving up to 8 N-type power MOSFETs, supporting 4 kW, 6 kW, and 8 kW power transmission board (PDB) designs. This new hot swappable controller can operate within a wide input voltage range of 7 V to 80 V and can withstand instantaneous voltages up to 100 V for up to 500 milliseconds, providing input power monitoring and reporting with ≤ 1.15% accuracy. It is compatible with high-speed PMBus ™ The active monitoring function can improve system reliability. In the case of severe overcurrent (SOC), the programmable gate shutdown function can quickly and accurately perform the shutdown operation within just 1 microsecond. Other features include IMON, PMON, and surge immunity, which can further improve system availability. In addition, the all digital operation mode can significantly reduce the demand for external components, achieve a compact solution, and make it an ideal cost-effective choice in space constrained designs.
Through external FET selection and one-time programmable (OTP) options, XDP711-001 can flexibly detect faults and warnings, as well as program de jitter timers for various usage modes. Its Analog Assisted Digital Mode (AADM) is backward compatible with traditional analog hot swappable controllers.
Magdalene Boebel, Vice President of IC Product Line at Infineon Technologies, said, "The Infineon XDP711-001 hot swappable controller, with its feature rich high-precision analog front-end, comprehensive health monitoring, telemetry, programmability, and pre-set MOSFET SOA, will be able to excellently address the challenges in the design of current pluggable AI server solutions. The powerful functionality and adaptability of XDP711-001 reflect Infineon's relentless pursuit of innovation, setting a new benchmark for system reliability for AI servers and other applications such as network routers and switches
This controller can be paired with Infineon OptiMOS ™ And OptiMOS ™ LinearFET product portfolio provides reliable and powerful system performance.
