The u-blox MAYA-W3 brings the advantages of Wi Fi 6 and 6 GHz frequency bands into industrial applications, preventing network congestion and ensuring excellent power efficiency and energy efficiency.
Recently, as a leading global supplier of positioning and wireless communication technology and services, u-blox (SIX: UBXN) announced the launch of the MAYA-W3 series of dual-mode Bluetooth LE 5.4 modules with a compact appearance and support for LE audio. These modules also support Wi Fi 6/E and are designed specifically for demanding industrial applications, including healthcare, industrial automation and monitoring, asset tracking and management, and smart home applications.
MAYA-W3 offers multiple model options, offering Wi Fi 6, Wi Fi 6/E, three band, dual band, and single band configurations. This module can be used in conjunction with various antennas (such as module pins or antennas with U.FL connectors) and is equipped with LTE filters, which can be used in conjunction with other technologies. The specific model selection depends on the required performance.
According to TSR * (Techno Systems Research CO.LTD.), the adoption rate of Wi Fi 6 is expected to steadily increase, with its market share reaching nearly 50% by 2028, and IoT devices are expected to begin adopting this technology in 2024.
The u-blox MAYA-W3 series conforms to this trend, allowing a large number of industrial applications to enjoy the latest advantages of Wi Fi 6 and 6 GHz frequency bands. This series of modules can alleviate network congestion, improve power efficiency, and operate within the temperature range of -40 º C to+85 º C.
The new module also allows designers to expand their solutions and grasp current and future market trends. The MAYA-W3 series inherits the same compact size as its predecessor (10x14x1.9mm), simplifying cross generational migration.
This series includes Bluetooth LE audio for P2P voice communication and voice broadcasting. All module models have obtained global certification for Wi Fi and Bluetooth.
"MAYA-W3 integrates new wireless technologies such as Wi Fi 6/E and LE audio. This module is compact in appearance, more cost-effective, and globally certified, helping manufacturers shorten their time to market. It has a wide range of uses and can provide important assistance for various applications such as life assistance, power tools, container tracking, and solar inverters. In addition, the u-blox technical support team can also assist customers in quickly completing implementation." - Sebastian Schreiber, Senior Product Manager for u-blox Short Range Communications
The MAYA-W3 is based on the Infineon chipset and offers three band, dual band, and single band versions.
We are pleased to expand our long-term partnership with u-blox by integrating ultra-low power AIROCTM CYW55513 Wi Fi 6/6E and Bluetooth into the MAYA W3 module ® 5.4 Chipsets. CYW55513 surpasses the Wi Fi 6/6E standard and provides powerful connectivity in various environments, enabling MAYA-W3 to be used in various industrial applications such as remote monitoring, industrial automation, asset tracking, solar infrastructure, and electric vehicle charging—— Sivaram Trikutam, Vice President of Wi Fi Products at Infineon Technologies
This product has started providing samples and is scheduled for mass production in the third quarter of 2024.
