According to Hualong.com, on December 12th, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Chongqing New Optoelectronics Integration Industrial Park and Optics Technology Wafer Manufacturing Center was held in the Chongqing Smart Industry Park in Banan District. The optical domain technology wafer manufacturing center project, which is under construction this time, will introduce key production process equipment and instruments, build the first multi material optoelectronic heterojunction integrated wafer line in China, and achieve an annual production capacity of 42000 silicon-based hybrid material photonic integrated wafers.
It is reported that the photonic integrated wafers produced by this project will be widely used in fields such as optical transmission, optical sensing, and optical computing, providing a full chain and all-round domestically produced, independently controllable commercial products and technical services for the breakthrough of China's photonic integration technology and the expansion of application fields.
At the same time, Optoelectronics Technology has initiated the operation of the Advanced Technology Research Institute for Optoelectronics Integration in advance, collaborating with upstream and downstream industries, universities and research institutes to carry out high-end optoelectronic integrated chip design and development, as well as high-end packaging and testing technology research and development. The mature scientific research achievements of the research institute can be rapidly industrialized through wafer manufacturing projects, achieving resonance between talent and industrial innovation and development.
It is reported that the construction of an optical domain technology wafer manufacturing center and the creation of a new type of optoelectronic integration industry park in Chongqing will also fill a key link in the integrated circuit industry chain in Banan District. It will also form a linkage and agglomeration effect with the upstream and downstream of the IC design, packaging, testing and other industry chains, accelerate the independent innovation breakthrough and commercial operation of semiconductor key fields and technologies
