TDK Corporation (TSE: 6762) has expanded its YFF series 3-terminal filter product lineup for automotive applications, adding models with a withstand voltage of up to 35V and a capacitance of up to 4.7 µ F. This type of component is mainly used to suppress voltage fluctuations and high-frequency noise, thereby avoiding system failures. This series of products will begin mass production in June 2025.
With the continuous development of automotive electronic systems towards miniaturization, the demand for system fault protection measures continues to grow. Usually, a large number of capacitors are used in such applications. On the other hand, due to the miniaturization of the system, the number of components must also be reduced. To address this challenge, there is an increasing demand for 3-terminal filters with low ESL (equivalent series inductance) characteristics.
By optimizing material selection and product design, the withstand voltage capability of the new product has been significantly improved, expanding from 6.3V to 35V, and the capacitance range has also been increased from 0.47 µ F to 4.7 µ F. Among them, the insertion loss of the 35V product is 40dB (frequency range: 4MHz to 2GHz), which is suitable for a wider range of power lines, including input and output of power systems; The insertion loss of the 4.7 µ F product is 30dB (frequency range: 300kHz to 3GHz), which gives it an advantage over traditional products in reducing voltage fluctuations and suppressing high-frequency noise when used as an input capacitor. In addition, according to specific application conditions, compared to multilayer chip ceramic capacitors (MLCC), this series of products can reduce the required number of components by half while providing the same voltage fluctuation suppression effect.
