China STMicroelectronics has launched the TSC1641 precision digital current, voltage, and power monitoring chip, which has high-precision input channels and supports MIPI I3C advanced bus interface.
TSC1641 helps optimize energy utilization and reliability in applications such as industrial battery packs, power inverters, DC power supplies, data centers and telecommunications equipment, as well as power tools. The monitoring chip simultaneously monitors DC current and voltage through a dual channel 16 bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC), and calculates power internally within the chip. Synchronous measurement of current and voltage ensures accurate power calculation.
The chip can communicate with the main controller through I2C, SMBus, and MIPI I3C interfaces. It can also report monitoring results and issue alarm signals when the current, voltage, power, and temperature are too high or too low to prevent circuit burnout. The chip also provides an alarm indicator pin and integrates a temperature monitoring sensor to save external components.
The voltage range of up to 60V makes TSC1641 suitable for various industrial environments. Using external parallel resistors to monitor current provides flexibility for high side, low side, and bidirectional measurements. The power consumption of the shutdown mode is only 50nA, ensuring minimal impact on the overall system power consumption.
The MIPI I3C interface allows designers to directly connect TSC1641 to advanced microcontrollers, such as STM32H5 series from STMicroelectronics, providing auxiliary functions for system monitoring. This interface supports data rates up to 12.5MHz and does not require pull-up resistors, which helps reduce bill of materials costs and save board space.
The rated temperature range of TSC1641 is -40 ° C to 125 ° C, and it is now in mass production. 3.0mm x 3.0mm DFN10 plastic packaging is now available for ordering.
Customers can immediately start exploring TSC1641 using the STEVAL-DIGAFEV1 evaluation board, and now they can purchase the evaluation board on ST.com, the official website of Zhongfa Semiconductor. This board can be used alone or in conjunction with the NUCLEO-H503RB STM32 microcontroller development board. The NUCLEO-H503RB board comes with a matching graphical user interface (STSW-DIGAFEV1GUI) software and sample firmware (STSW-DIGAFEV1FW) for configuring TSC1641, supporting MIPI I3C communication.
