In the context of continuously rising memory prices, DDR4 memory, which is relatively more cost-effective, has become a new choice for many installation users.
In response to this market demand, MSI has launched two new motherboards based on the previous generation AM4 slot: Pro B550M-B and B550M-A Pro.

Both motherboards use the classic B550 chipset, mainly because B550 is positioned between the flagship X570 and the entry-level A520, providing full PCIe 4.0 support and allowing players to overclock the processor and memory.
In terms of specifications, both new motherboards adopt the Micro ATX version and have a simple appearance without dazzling RGB lighting effects. Among them, the Pro B550M-B adopts an 8-pin EPS power supply interface, which has stronger power supply capability and is suitable for pairing with high-end chips or overclocking attempts; The B550M-A Pro adopts a 4-pin power supply interface.
In terms of memory, both offer dual DDR4 slots, supporting a maximum of 64GB (2 × 32GB) and a frequency of DDR4-4600+, depending on the processor and memory controller configuration.

In terms of scalability, Pro B550M-B provides a PCIe 4.0 x16 graphics card slot and an additional PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 solid-state drive slot (led out by the chipset); The B550M-A Pro has an additional PCIe 3.0 x1 slot, but has been reduced to four SATA III interfaces and a single M.2 slot.
In terms of rear I/O, B550M-A Pro retains DVI-D and dual PS/2 interfaces, making it more suitable for old peripherals; The Pro B550M-B has been upgraded to DisplayPort 1.2 and single PS/2, both of which provide 2 USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A and 6 USB 2.0 interfaces.
In the Japanese market, the pre tax prices of Pro B550M-B and B550M-A Pro are 13980 yen and 11980 yen, respectively (approximately 614 yuan and 526 yuan).
