L99MH98 can independently control four full bridge pre drive, eight half bridge pre drive, or eight high/low side pre drive, suitable for driving DC motor applications such as electric seats, sunroof, side sliding doors, and electric tailgate. L99MH98 has a built-in charge pump that can be used to drive reverse polarity protection MOSFETs.
The maximum gate drive current of L99MH98 can reach 120mA, and the gate drive capability can be configured to meet the needs of driving multiple external MOSFETs. The three-stage gate control applies gate current in three steps to minimize electromagnetic radiation to the greatest extent possible.
The L99MH98 has a built-in analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that can sample the drain source voltage (VDS) of each MOSFET, replacing traditional current detection resistance methods with indirect current measurement methods. STMicroelectronics' patented indirect current measurement technology uses VDS voltage measurement values and RDS (on) resistance measurement values to calculate the current in each MOSFET path. RDS (on) is calculated by converting the temperature value measured by the sensor (diode) to obtain the MOSFET on resistance.
Programmable multiple fault protection is another patented feature of STMicroelectronics, which can individually turn off the faulty half bridge to prevent the fault from affecting the entire drive circuit, while allowing the half bridge that is not affected by the fault to operate normally, thereby improving the reliability of the drive system. Multiple fault protection can detect faults such as power overvoltage, half bridge overvoltage/undervoltage, high temperature alarm, charge pump fault, VDS monitoring failure, etc., and selectively disable functions such as diagnostic, watchdog, and charge pump based on fault types.
L99MH98 has obtained AEC-Q100 certification and complies with ISO 26262 functional safety standards, meeting the functional safety ASIL B level.
